What is self-healing cutting mat?

Our plastic cutting mat is "self healing" because blade can't leave gaps on the self healing surface after cutting, it almost heals. Of course it is not reality. Thanks to its dense structure after cutting the surface heals perfectly. Our special cutting mat keeps your blades sharp and won't fall into previous cuts, creating unwanted trims. By continuous use the mat will not be everlasting, there will be some gaps if you cut on the same place times without number. If your cutting mat weared out on one side you can just turn it on the other side. 5mm is thick enough to use both sides.

Take care of these things while using cutting mat!

Preferably always use snap-off sharp knife. With the sharp knife we will get the thinest cutting gap, which ensure long lifetime.
Don't cut with strong pressure! If the knife is sharp – you snap off the blade on time – so you don't need to cut the media with strong pressure.
Don't cut foam PVC and other hard table on the cutting mat. You need strong pressure to cut material above 3mm thickness so it could happen that you cut off the cutting mat too.
Because of the glossy surface ot cutting mat the other glossy materials adheres to it (f.ex. : foil, banner, safety cutting ruler), which ensure safe and anti-slip cutting.

Which is the best cutting mat?

Comparaison of cutting mats:

Glass board: With using quality OLFA knife the blade still sharp after long time and the surface of glass will good for a long time. Disadvantages of glass is that the surface is very slippery and fragile, it is easy to slip on the table with the blade.

MDF: cheap and don't slip but after short time the board will be full with a lot of cutted gaps, after the blade "find" these gaps and cause wrong cuts.

Linoleum: many sign maker use the classic PVC floor on MDF table. The surface of quality industrial linoleum is hard enough to cut on it but the thickness of their protection layer are just 0.5-1mm so the lifetime of these linoleum is similar to the MDF tables, we can cut into pieces in some monthe.

Self healing material: Thanks to its dense structure after cutting there won't be any gap. This is big advantages compared with the other alternatives. Moreover it keeps the blades sharp and 5mm thickness ensure long lifetime and you can use both sides. It exist 2 types, 3 layered and 1layer. The 3 layered cutting mat has two 1-1mm cuttable sides and a harder 1mm plastic layer in the middle which stops the blades of knife and prevent from cutting off the mat. The 1layer mat (this product) is made of special dense material and there is no need for middle hard layer because the 5mm thickness is enough thick to avoid cutting off.
