Solutions for all your tarpaulin welding needs!
How do you deal with printed advertising hoardings?
Based on decades of experience in large format printing, the only answers for an advertising company are. Of the 6 solutions, the size of your company and your financial means will decide which one you should choose. If a current EU tender is available, or if the company can invest in a pulse welder even without a tender, we would recommend it, but for smaller companies a self-propelled tarpaulin welder is the most obvious choice, as there is no other match in terms of price/value! Plus, for welding large segments, it's almost the only machine that can do the job.
1. You take it to the nearest vehicle tarpaulin maker because you don't have the right equipment for welding yet.
Pros: Although it requires external help, the nailing and welding of tarpaulins can be done without buying equipment.
Cons: Sooner or later, they will probably scratch the print, because these companies mainly deal in classic truck tarpaulins, which are less susceptible to scratching and creasing, and the aesthetic value of the nailing is secondary, only the strong and durable nailing matters. One visible scratch on the print is enough and you've worked without profit because you have to reprint the job.
2. Heat gun + roller and other trowels.
Pros: All you need is a good heat gun, a taper end and a silicone roller. Although this also requires some investment, it is much less than the mechanized solutions below!
Cons: Slow. Uneven seam quality, which may cause more demanding customers to refuse to accept the work. Involves a lot of smoke. Requires two people to operate.
3. You use self-adhesive double-sided tape
Pros: The simplest solution, excellent for short-term and small-sized tarpaulins!
Cons: Have you ever calculated how much your m2 price increases? It is not necessarily competitive for larger quantities. Furthermore, it is not any faster than a welding machine (We know! We tested it, we measured it.), and it is not suitable for overlapping segments of giant advertising tarpaulins or building nets. At least it is risky for giant sizes.
4. Impulse tarpaulin welder
Pros: It is capable of one of the most even seams available today, it is also fast and what is more important: No smoke!
Cons: If the size of your business has not yet grown to invest in such a machine (if you still think the time has come, click here and check out the pulse welder too).
5. High-frequency welder
Pros: Consistent weld quality similar to pulse welding, but even more productive speed thanks to the long welding path of up to 20-30 meters.
Cons: If you are not one of the first few leading digital printing companies in the country, you may not be able to afford it, as the prices start at around 30,000EUR.
6. Self-propelled welding machine
Pros: One of the most popular solutions in the LFP segment. The hemming of tarpaulins and building nets can be done in beautiful, uniform quality thanks to the stepless self-propelled speed and welding temperature adjustment. Although these machines also use a hot air blower, due to the parameterization, the welding produces much less smoke than the manual hot air blower solution. Furthermore, the overlap welding of segments of giant-sized firewall advertisements can be done with this self-propelled welder in durable quality and quickly.
