One printer for everything!

It might sound like an exaggeration, but Mutoh ValueJet 1628MH is quite possibly the most versatile printer on the market right now. Similarily to he smaller, Mutoh ValueJet 628MP model, it uses resin-based inks, which stand out with their unparalleled media-compatibility. But the hybrid ValueJet 1628MH model goes even further: providing both roll-to-roll printing up to 162 cm (64") and flatbed printing for rigid materials up to 16 mm thickness at a high printing speed of up to 12 m²/h. A perfect choice for graphic companies for both indoor and outdoor prints as well as unique gift making or even producing packaging prototypes.

Our offer includes the original MUTOH Multi Purpose inks, which provide you durable, vivid, high-quality prints and extremely accurate color reproduction with 8 colors (CMYK + White + 3 spot colors of orange, green and blue). They can be fixed and dried at regular heating temperatures (max. 50 °C), doesn't require pre-coating, and the material retains its original texture or surface effect even after printing (unlike for example traditional UV printing).. The inks' remarkable flexibility and shrinkability enables post-procession of vacuum-formed and shrink-wrapped materials. In addition to the inks, the printer comes with original MUTOH VerteLith RIP software, which enables you to maximize its capabilities, as well as our usual Signdepot Full Service.

Resin: a unique digital print solution

Resin-based inks open a new horizon in printing. It is currently the only digital print solution available that is capable of printing directly onto a wide variety of roll and hard media without primer or pre-coating, such as shrink film, uncoated label stock, corrugated board and many more. This versatility makes it a “Swiss army knife” for graphic studios!

The unique properties of resin ink make it especially fitting for the production of packaging prototypes. It offers the possibility to print onto the exact same material that will be used in the final production run. Unlike UV inks, multi-purpose inks will retain the look and feel as well as other specific physical properties of the target substrates, so the proofs will have the physical feel of the final product. It is not possible to cover these applications with a regular transfer film and water-based inks or eco-solvent inks. This solution will not only allow to print directly on the original substrates, it will also allow the packaging professionals to inspect the exact distortion of the shrink sleeve prototype. This is possible thanks to the unique stretch and shrink possibilities of the ink together with the film.

Gentle ink fixing with a combined heating system

To adapt the chassis of the Mutoh ValueJet 1628MP printer to the unique properties of the multi-purpose resin inks, Mutoh developed a mild temperature low pressure hot air knife system. In combination with the contact heaters under the media, there is a 64" hot air blow system above, which allows the MP31 multi-purpose inks to dry on top of non-coated media without exposing them to excessive heat. The air knife system together with the contact heaters heats the media up to ~ 40-50 degrees which enables a wide substrate compatibility.

Top quality Micro Piezo printhead

Mutoh has been integrating piezo printheads since 1999. Due to decades of experience and continuous development, their printheads are now worthy opponents of the most well-known brands. Mutoh ValueJet 1628MP hybrid resin printer is equipped with an 8 channel, 1440 nozzle Micro Piezo printhead to provide exceptional print quality. ValueJet 1628MP model provides 4–8 ink setup modes (CMYK+W+OBG), ensuring enhanced color gamut and extremely accurate colour reproduction. Thanks to the Piezo Variable Drop Technology, the ink drop mass ranges from 4 picoliters up to 21.3 picoliters, ensuring perfect coverage and precise ink landing from the thinnest to the thickest materials. Printing speed could reach 12 m²/h.

Roll-to-roll printing

With Mutoh ValueJet 1628MH Hybrid resin printer, you can print on materials up to 1625 mm wide, 150 mm in diameter and 30 kg in weight in roll mode. The printers's motorized torque controlled take-up system, which is linked to the printer and follows the start and stop of printing, automatizes the printing process thus increases productivity.

The media loading system in this printer has been optimized to meet the wide media compatibility provided by the inks. The multi-level pinch rollers provide smooth feeding and transport of various media, including thin or slippery substrates, for example very thin shrink films. Each roller's pressure is adjustable for optimal performance.

Printing on rigid materials

To expand your creative possibilities, the printer comes with front and back support tables, which can be easily adjusted and removed, and easy-to move due to their wheels. To enable flexible media handling, the table's support bars can be moved freely and you can add extra ones if needed. To help you position and align rigid materials, you can add a media positioning option with adjustable fins.

In flat mode, you can print on media up to 1625 mm wide, 15 mm thick and weighing up to 15 kg. (The recommended length is at least 200 mm and up to 1200 mm.) Media thickness is measured electronically and the printer automatically adjusts head height accordingly, so you can spare time on manual adjustments.

Genuine MUTOH resin based inks

The key to Mutoh's success is that all development is done in-house, resulting in 100% coordinated systems. This also includes consumables: they have developed dedicated inks tuned to specific piezo heads, covering specific applications to achieve the perfect end results. For Mutoh ValueJet 1628MP it is MP31 resin based ink. MP stands for “Multi-Purpose”, which refers to the unique capabilities of the inks and their extreme versatility.
