Resin-based inks open a new horizon in printing. It is currently the only digital print solution available that is capable of printing directly onto a wide variety of coated and uncoated roll and rigid substrates without primer or pre-coating, including ones that cannot be printed by other digital technologies – such as UV, eco-solvent or various transfer technologies. Resin printers expand creative possibilities to the max due to the unique properties of resin-based ink. They provide wider material compatibility than e.g. eco-solvent, latex or transfer technologies, produce more durable prints than UV printers, and due to their flexibility, they also expand post-processing options.
Diverse media compatibility
The main advantage of resin-based inks is that they enable direct printing on almost any roll or rigid substrate without pretreatment. They are suitable for printing on paper, wood, various types of foil, aluminum composite, ABS, PVC, wood, polyester, corrugated cardboard, canvas and many more. The possibilities are limited only by the characteristics of your chosen printer (roll-to-roll/flatbed, printable size and material thickness). No need for pretreatment, you can print directly onto the surface of the media. High opacity white inks provide high quality, perfectly vivid prints on colored or transparent substrates as well. You can even print on heat sensitive material (such as polyolefin) due to the gentle ink-fixing by mild temperature low pressure hot air.
Remarkable flexibility
Resin inks have unparalleled flexibility and shrinkability, which not only results in more durable prints, but also expands the possibilities of post-processing. Unlike other printing technologies, the ink does not crack during vacuum-forming or other post-processing methods involving bending and distortion. This makes it a perfect solution for creating packaging such as shrink-wrapped bottles and jars.
Outstanding durability
Unlike in UV printing, resin ink penetrates the media surface, resulting in extremely durable, scratch-resistant prints. UV resistance could be up to 2 years (which can be expanded by lamination), therefore it is a great choice for both indoor and outdoor sign & display. The substrate maintains its true look and feel (texture, matte or glossy surface) even after printing, which makes it perfect for printing packaging proofs.
